Abhishek Bachchan Biography
Abhishek Bachchan is an Indian actor and
the son of Indian actors Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan; his elder
sister is Shweta Bachchan-Nanda. He is married to actress and former
Miss World Aishwarya Rai.
He did his schooling from Jamnabai Narsee School and Bombay Scottish School in Mumbai, Modern School, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi, and he completed his college education from Aiglon College in Switzerland. He then joined Boston University in the U.S. to complete his studies, but left in the middle to pursue his career in acting to support his father's company, ABCL, which was facing a lot of trouble.
In October 2002, at Amitabh Bachchan's 60th birthday celebration Abhishek Bachchan and Karisma Kapoor's engagement was declared which was called off in January 2003. In 2006, he was named the sexiest man in Asia by a UK Magazine "Eastern Eye" and The Times of India called him the most eligible bachelor of India.
Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwary Rai announced their engagement on 14 January 2007 and got married on 20 April 2007. They married according to traditional Hindu rites of the South Indian Bunt community. The marraige was held in a private ceremony at the Bachchan residence Prateeksha which is at Juhu, Mumbai.
Career
Abhishek started his career with the movie Refugee which was a moderately successful film, which also starred Kareena Kapoor. For around four years he acted in some movies which were not much of a success. In 2004, he starred in the movie Dhoom which was the first hit movie of his career. Soon after in 2005 he gave four consecutive hit movies like Bunty aur Babli, Sarkar, Dus and Bluffmaster.
In the year 2006, he acted in a movie Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehena which was one of India's highest grossing films of the year. Then his next movie Umrao Jaan didn't do went well at the box office. Later that year he was again seen in Dhoom 2 which went very well.
In 2007, he starred in the movie Guru which was again a great success and his first solo hit. Later that year in June 2007, his next movie Jhoom Barabar Jhoom released which was a failure in India, but was a success in the overseas market.
In 2008, Abhishek turned into a producer. His first produced film was Paa. He was the lead actor and the producer in charge of the film.
On January 2010, he was seen on the small screen where he hosted a game show for Colors called National Bingo Night. In late 2010, he starred in the film Raavan opposite his wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan which was a flop at the box office in India.
