Hrithik Roshan
Hrithik Roshan is a popular Indian film actor who rose to stardom with
his debut film ‘Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai.’ Having appeared in over thirty
films as of today, he has established himself as one of the leading
actors of Bollywood, the Hindi film industry. Also one of India's
highest-paid actors, he is famous for his remarkable dancing skills. He
has won numerous awards for his acting skills, which includes six
Filmfare awards and fifteen IIFA awards. Born in Mumbai in India, Roshan
wanted to become an actor since his teenage years. He actively
participated in dance and music events while he was pursuing his
graduation. Before making his film debut, he used to assist his
film-maker father in his projects. During this time, he also learned
acting from the prominent acting coach Kishore Namit Kapoor. He made his
debut in a dual role in the romantic drama 'Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai'
which was directed by his father. The film was a huge commercial
success, and became the highest grossing Indian film of the year. Roshan
won several awards for his brilliant acting. The film was added to the
Limca Book of Records as well, for the greatest number of awards won by a
Bollywood film. Following the success of his debut film, Roshan
appeared in a lot of successful films, such as ‘Lakshya,’ ‘Krrish,’ and
‘Agneepath.’ He was latest seen in the romantic action thriller
‘Kaabil.’
Acting Career
At the turn of the century, Hrithik Roshan recorded his first starring role in the romantic thriller Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai (2000). Roshan played double roles in the film and was assisted by fellow actor Salman Khan to prepare for his performance. The film became the most successful Bollywood production of the year and gained much critical acclaim for both cast and crew. On his part, Hrithik Roshan made history as the first actor to win Filmfare Awards for Best Actor and Best Debut in the same year. Having convincingly launched his acting career with his epic debut, Hrithik Roshan became one of the most-sought actors in Bollywood and he went on to star in Fiza (2000), Mission Kashmir (2000), Yaadein (2001) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001).
The year 2002 wasn’t a favorable one for Hrithik Roshan’s
career as many of his films fared poorly at the box office with many
critics predicting the end of his career. The following year, the
talented actor was able to redeem his career with an epic performance in
the foremost Bollywood sci-fi film Koi… Mil Gaya (2003). The
film turned out to be the most popular Bollywood release of 2003 and
Roshan received a Filmfare Award for Best Actor.
Hrithik Roshan hit further box-office gold with the comedy-drama film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011) and the action drama Agneepath (2012). In 2013, he appeared another box-office monster Krrish 3, a sequel to 2006’s Krrish and 3rd installment of what has become the Krrish film series. Roshan received immense critical praise for his performance in the film in which he portrayed 3 different characters.
Among Hrithik Roshan’s most recent releases is the romantic thriller Kaabil (2017). The multi-talented actor equally has a number of movie features in the works including a 4th installment of the Krrish film series, Krrish 4. In addition to his astonishing achievements on the big screen, Hrithik Roshan has also performed on stage and television. In 2011, he featured in the short-lived Indian television dance-reality series Just Dance.
Family
Hrithik Roshan was born to Pinky and Hrithik Roshan, a Punjabi family of prolific Bollywood filmmakers/entertainers. His father, Rakesh Roshan is a producer, director, screenwriter, film editor, music director and former actor. His paternal grandfather, Roshanlal Nagrath a.k.a. Roshan was also a music director and composer. His maternal grandfather, J. Om Prakash is a film producer and director.
In addition to being very talented and his dedication to acting, Hrithik Roshan received a lot of support from his family in his early years in acting. He earned his first acting credit in the film Aasha (1980) which was produced and directed by his grandfather J. Om Prakash. The Bollywood star has also collaborated with his father Rakesh Roshan on several productions including the 2000 box-office hit Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai which shot the actor to stardom.
Wife, Kids, Divorce
Hrithik Roshan got married way back in 2000, a time when his illustrious acting career was just setting sail. After courting for 4 years, Roshan tied the knot with interior designer and fashion entrepreneur, Sussanne Khan on December 20, 2000. Theirs was a private wedding ceremony held in a 5-star hotel in the bride’s home city of Bangalore, India.
Hrithik Roshan has 2 children with his wife Sussanne. They welcomed their first son, Hrehaan in 2006 and their second son, Hridhaan was born in 2008. After 13 years of marriage, the couple parted ways in December 2013. The marriage ended in an amicable divorce which was finalized on November 1, 2014.
